1. वैज्ञानिकों का मानना है कि डायनासोरों ने धरती पर लगभग 15 करोड़ साल तक राज किया। मनुष्यों के इतिहास के कुल समय का महज 0.1% है।

2. ‘Dinosour’ शब्द प्राचीन ग्रीक भाषा से आया है जिसका अर्थ है – Terrible Lizard ( भयंकर छिपकली)।

3. हिंदी में डायनासोरों को भीमसरट कहते हैं जिसका संस्कृत में अर्थ भयानक छिपकली ही होता है।

4. वैज्ञानिकों का मानना है डायनासोरों के अंत का कारण था एक 10 किलोमीटर के दायरे वाला उल्का, जो आज से 6.5 करोड़ साल पहले मैक्सिको के पैनिनसुला से टकराया और पृथ्वी पर भयंकर तबाही मच गई। सारा आकाश कई सालों तक राख से ढका रहा जिसकी वजह से धरती पर से लगभग सभी डायनासोरों का खात्मा हो गया।
